The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has discovered three ancient tombs dating to different periods of Egyptian history, containing mummies and coffins made of limestone and pottery. These tombs are located at the "Sheikh Soobe" site in the Bahariya Oasis and include a collectively carved tomb in the rock, as well as two tombs from the Roman era with different architectural styles—one of which is often used for temporary holding of mummies before transfer. The contents of the tombs vary, including coffins covered with bandage wrappings, fragments of coffins, pottery vessels, and other archaeological finds, reflecting the diversity of ancient Egyptian periods and civilizations. The site is considered one of the most important locations housing tombs of the rulers and priests of the oases during the Late Period. It also contains the Ptolemaic Temple built by the oasis' ruler during the 26th Dynasty.
