China's EV market hits 60 percent share

For the first time in July 2026, the share of new energy vehicle (NEV) sales in China exceeded 60% of total new car sales, with production and sales surpassing 1.57 million and 1.56 million units respectively, recording year-over-year increases of over 23-26%. Additionally, pure electric vehicle sales exceeded one million units, while vehicle exports rose by 81.3% to more than one million units. NEVs accounted for more than half of all car exports during the month. This growth is attributed to the increasing trend toward environmentally friendly vehicles and government efforts to promote the electric vehicle sector in China.
