China to boost safety equipment industry

China has announced a five-year plan to strengthen the safety equipment and emergency response industry by 2030, aiming to increase the sector's value to 1.4 trillion yuan (approximately $206 billion). The plan includes developing key technologies, achieving breakthroughs in new applications, and establishing leading companies that can compete internationally. The output in safety and emergency fields had already surpassed one trillion yuan by 2025, with increased use of technologies such as drones and satellite communication systems in rescue operations and disaster management, especially during the flood season. The initiative seeks to make progress on more than 20 core technologies and equipment, and to expand their deployment by the end of 2027.
