Syria detains ISIS leader

The Syrian authorities, in cooperation with international partners, managed to apprehend a high-ranking military leader of ISIS in Aleppo province, known as Hamza Abdullah Muhammad "Abu Jihad Al-Muhajir," during a security operation in the Manbij countryside. The detainee held the position of the overall military commander for Wilayah al-Sham and was the former deputy of the overall military commander, in addition to being responsible for Wilayah Idlib. He is considered one of the prominent leaders within the organization. This operation is part of ongoing efforts to pursue ISIS leaders and cells, aiming to dismantle its networks and prevent its return from threatening Syria's security and stability. This comes especially after the organization claimed responsibility for attacks, including two bombings in Damascus that targeted the vicinity of the French president's hotel residence—bringing the total number of such operations since Syria's defeat of ISIS in 2019 to four, as the country continues its efforts to confront them.
