China-Laos railway transports over 90 million tons

China-Laos Railway, operated by China’s Kunming Railway Group Co., Ltd., has transported over 90 million tons of goods since its launch in December 2021, with the cross-border freight volume exceeding 21 million tons to date. The line has operated more than 80,000 trains, including over 23,000 cross-border trains, and increased its capacity to 2,800 tons per train at peak daily operation. The line, connecting Kunming to Vientiane, has become an international logistics artery, now facilitating the movement of goods to 19 countries. There has been a 33.8% increase in import and export values in the first half of 2026, reaching approximately $2.53 billion.
