Hemorrhoids are swollen veins around the rectum and anus. They are divided into three types: internal hemorrhoids, which are located inside the rectum and cause bleeding; external hemorrhoids, which appear as hard lumps under the skin around the anus; and prolapsed hemorrhoids, which protrude outside the body after bowel movements. Hemorrhoids often lead to bright red bleeding during bowel movements and frequently develop due to intense pressure during defecation, pregnancy, genetic factors, or prolonged sitting. They can be managed at home by consuming high-fiber foods, avoiding straining during defecation, and using ointments and pain relievers. In severe cases, medical or surgical procedures may be necessary to treat them.
