Sudan Rapid Support Forces members detained amid humanitarian concerns

Since April 2023, Sudan has experienced ongoing clashes between the Rapid Support Forces and the army, resulting in the deaths of tens of thousands and the displacement of around 13 million people. The joint forces, in coordination with the army, announced the destruction of 49 combat vehicles belonging to the Rapid Support Forces and the seizure of 30 vehicles and fuel trucks after targeting a moving convoy in the desert corridor, which includes the desert areas north and west of Sudan up to the borders with Chad and Libya. The clashes also led to the deaths of four members of the joint forces and injuries to several others, while the Rapid Support Forces have not issued an immediate comment. On the humanitarian front, the Humanitarian Aid Commission in Blue Nile warned of deteriorating conditions for internally displaced persons, noting that more than 6,000 IDPs are living in the open, and most camps are suffering from shortages of healthcare services and water, with cholera spreading.
