Sir Kenny Dalglish and Karen Carney have won the 2026 Player’s Merit Award from the English Professional Footballers' Association, in recognition of their significant contributions to football. Dalglish, a Liverpool legend and Scotland national team player, earned 102 international caps and scored 30 goals. He has achieved great success both as a player and a coach, as well as through his humanitarian work and support for the families of the Hillsborough disaster victims. Carney, a former Arsenal and Chelsea player, accomplished important milestones with her clubs and the England national team, participating in major tournaments before transitioning to a career in media and independent review aimed at developing women’s football. Both will be honored at a ceremony in Manchester, where the Best Player awards, voted on by the players, will also be announced.
