Precise Chinese Robot for Blood Flow and Clot Treatment

A team of scientists in China has developed a flexible and precise medical robot called "CiliaVine." It features the ability to control blood flow within vessels using hair-like structures and to deliver medications with greater accuracy. Laboratory experiments showed that the robot could transport a larger amount of medication to the vessel walls and dissolve clots more quickly, taking 40 minutes with the robot and a reactive drug trained for this purpose, compared to 70 minutes when using the drug alone. The robot was also proven capable of detecting circulating cancer cells in the blood of cancer patients. Successful tests were conducted inside tissue-safe animal models, supporting its potential development for clot treatment and early cancer detection.
