Two workers at Frankfurt Airport in Germany died from malaria after contracting the disease from a mosquito that arrived in the country aboard an airplane. Six airport employees were also diagnosed with "airport malaria," a rare form that occurs when a mosquito surviving a flight from an infected region transmits the infection within the airport. This resulted in the death of two individuals and the recovery of the other four. Health authorities are investigating the incident, as it is believed that the mosquito, of the Anopheles species, arrived via a flight. Measures are being taken to control pests and diagnose cases early to prevent complications and fatalities.
