Turkey joins Artemis for space efforts

Turkey has signed the Artemis agreements to participate in international space exploration programs, becoming the 71st country to do so. The signing took place in the presence of Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology, Mehmet Fatih Kacır, at NASA headquarters in Washington. Through these agreements, Turkey aims to strengthen its presence in space and achieve sustainable development goals and the advancement of its space capabilities. This includes sending a spacecraft to the Moon by 2027 and building a spaceport in Somalia to bolster the space economy. These agreements align with Turkey’s Space Program Strategy (2022-2030) and support projects such as the Moon Mission (AYAP) and other initiatives within NATO, with the goal of integrating Turkish space industry into the global economy. Turkey is also expected to host an international forum in Antalya in 2026 to promote the principles underlying the Artemis agreements.
