Syrian Rural Women Economic Project

The Syrian Ministry of Agriculture, with the support of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center and the United Nations Development Programme, launched the "Seed Initiative" project to promote the economic empowerment of rural women in Syria. The project aims to empower 520 women through training in entrepreneurship skills, supporting small businesses, developing production centers for food and fertilizer manufacturing, and connecting them to markets. The project will last 18 months and includes rehabilitating four production centers in different areas of Rural Damascus, Hama, and Tartus, with the goal of transforming agricultural resources into sustainable livelihood sources. It is expected that these centers will generate approximately $260,000 annually from food manufacturing products and $13,000 from organic fertilizer products. The program focuses on developing rural women's skills and enhancing their capacity for economic production and contribution to the local economy, while ensuring the sustainability of the centers' operations after the project concludes.
