Red Cross to Visit Palestinian Prisoners

The International Committee of the Red Cross announced that it will resume visits to Palestinian prisoners in Israeli occupation prisons, after a halt since October 2023. This comes following the approval of Israeli authorities to allow visits for the first time since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip. The committee conducted an evaluation meeting at one of the military detention centers in Israel, but direct contact or meetings with the prisoners were not permitted. This step follows the Israeli Supreme Court’s decision in June to lift the ban on Red Cross visits. Currently, over 9,600 Palestinian detainees are held in Israeli prisons, including 350 children and 90 women, with reports of torture and medical neglect.
