China and SCO enhance AI in primary education

China and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization countries are working together to strengthen cooperation in basic education through a new center in Beijing that utilizes artificial intelligence. The goal is to enhance exchanges among young people and to train teachers. The center aims to share experiences and develop AI-supported digital education, with widespread participation from educational institutions across China and from member countries. China's ranking in the global digital education development index has risen from 24th place in 2023 to 6th place in 2025, with more than 400,000 digital resources available. Artificial intelligence is contributing to improvements in admissions, assessments, and other educational services.
