The Israeli army carried out an airstrike that resulted in the death of Mohammed Al-Yazouri, the commander of the Khan Younis Battalion in Al-Qassam Brigades, while he was moving in the Al-Mawasi area south of Gaza Strip. Al-Yazouri was one of Hamas's most prominent leaders, having assumed command of the battalion after the assassination of other leaders from the same forces in May 2023. He has a history of carrying out military operations, most notably the October 7 attack, as well as playing a role in the prisoner exchange deal. He was targeted with rockets during an attack believed to have been aimed at him and those accompanying him. Also killed in the strike was an engineer from the Brigades, responsible for developing military capabilities. The Israeli target behind the bombing was likely Abu Moamer, although precise information about Al-Yazouri’s presence with him at the time of the strike has not yet been confirmed.
