China expands AI training centers for humanoid robots

China is accelerating the development of embodied artificial intelligence training centers to support the advancement of humanoid robots and enable them to perform a wide range of complex tasks in real-world settings. By the end of June 2026, more than 70 centers have been established, with over 40 more under construction or planning. Most of these centers are concentrated in the Yangtze River Delta, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, and the Pearl River Delta. This initiative is expanding within the context of the humanoid robot industry, which currently accounts for 80% of global shipments. It faces key challenges related to collecting large volumes of interaction data from the real world, improving data quality through new industry standards set for November. The overall goal is to build a multi-tiered training network based on realistic scenarios and high-quality data to enhance robots' performance in daily tasks and their interaction with the surrounding environment.
