World Skills Shanghai draws 1,385 competitors from 68 nations

A total of 1,385 competitors from 68 countries and regions are participating in the 48th edition of the WorldSkills Competition held in Shanghai. The delegations include Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. The event features 64 skills across six sectors: transportation and logistics; construction technology and building; manufacturing engineering; information and communication technology; creative arts and fashion; and social and personal services. Seven new skills have been introduced, such as railway vehicle technology and unmanned aerial vehicles, to keep pace with industrial transformation and meet the increasing demand for specialized skills. China, participating with a team of 71 competitors, has ranked first in gold medals and points over the past four editions. It is one of the leading countries with a large base of skilled workers—over 220 million—supporting economic and industrial development. The competition is held under the slogan "Master the Skills, Change Your Future!" and runs until September 27, featuring a global conference and special events on the skills of the future.
