Somali Displaced May Face Hunger

According to reports from the Food Security Observatory, thousands of displaced people in southwestern Somalia could face famine between October and December 2026 if the El Niño phenomenon causes more severe floods than expected and humanitarian aid remains insufficient. It is projected that the number of people affected by food insecurity will reach 5.4 million during that period, including approximately 26,000 displaced individuals in Baidoa who are at imminent risk of severe hunger and livelihood collapse.
