Yemeni Children’s Stories of Hunger

The article addresses the severe malnutrition crisis among children in Yemen, which is worsening due to ongoing conflict, poverty, displacement, and weak health and humanitarian services. It reveals the suffering of children like Tahiya and Jiya, many of whom have been malnourished after years of war. Despite the availability of massive financial aid totaling billions of dollars, a large portion of these funds is diverted towards the operation and management of aid programs, reducing their actual impact on the families in need. Data shows that hundreds of children require ongoing treatment, and that insufficient funding, weak partnerships, and irregular aid delivery hamper efforts to save them. The heartbreaking cases and field stories highlight that medical treatment alone is not enough; it must be accompanied by improving the economic and social conditions of families to prevent recurrence and stop the deteriorating health of children across the country.
