Sudan prolongs Adre border opening to year-end

The Sudanese government has extended the opening of the Adri border crossing with Chad for humanitarian aid for an additional three months until December 31, 2026, in order to facilitate the delivery of assistance to civilians in Sudan affected by the ongoing conflict. This extension comes as part of the government's efforts to support relief operations and coordinate with international organizations, especially amid the continued war between the army and the Rapid Support Forces since April 2023, which has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands and the displacement of around 13 million people.
