Ex-US officer details cockpit door breach on Fly Dubai
The incident involving Fly Dubai's flight centered around an attempted assault by one of the attacking pilots, who stabbed a fellow crew member inside the cockpit during the flight. Fortunately, the passengers were able to take control of the attacker and restrain him, which helped stabilize the aircraft and ensure the safety of the passengers. Israeli authorities confirmed that the injured pilot, Smit Matsehar, managed to open the cockpit door despite his serious injuries, allowing passengers and crew to intervene and contain the situation. Following the incident, a temporary suspension of Fly Dubai flights to and from Israel was announced. Investigators are currently reviewing the flight logs and recorded audio to determine how the attacker managed to open the door despite the heightened security measures implemented after the September 11 attacks, which include reinforced cockpit doors designed to prevent hijacking attempts.
