Diesel sparks US-Europe tensions
The United States and Europe are facing tensions over diesel fuels, as Washington has requested France and Germany to release emergency stocks of diesel to increase supplies and reduce prices. They have warned of imposing a 90-day gasoline export ban to curb inflation and rising prices, which have surpassed $5.80 per gallon in America. Washington plans to make approximately 120 million barrels available over six months, while Europe relies on about 32% of its diesel imports from the United States—a move that could lead to record-high diesel prices in Europe if the ban is enforced. It is anticipated that Europe's withdrawal from its strategic reserve will help ease the impact of rising prices and mitigate economic conflicts between the two sides.
