Ethiopia, Eritrea, Egypt Tensions
The most prominent developments revolve around the escalating tension between Ethiopia, Eritrea, and Egypt, as these countries have taken reciprocal diplomatic measures, including the expulsion of diplomats and the closure of embassies, amid accusations of hostile acts and escalation among the parties. The region has witnessed a return to armed confrontations in northern Ethiopia between government forces and the Tigray People's Liberation Front, with rebels controlling airports, amid fears of a resurgence of war. Security threats are intensifying, and the number of displaced persons and injured individuals is increasing. The African Union Commission emphasized the importance of restraint, even as military operations and political disputes continue in the region.
