Pentagon Boosts SM-6 Production
The Pentagon announced that a $24.4 billion contract has been signed with the American company Raytheon to accelerate the production of the SM-6 intercept missiles, in order to replenish stocks used during the war against Iran. The five-year contract includes an option for a two-year extension, aiming to boost production, expand workforce capacities, and secure supply chains. This comes after a previous report confirmed that missile consumption during operations against Iran has led to a shortage in strategic stockpiles, with warnings that this could leave the United States with limited interceptor missile reserves for years.
