Another US state designates Eid as official holidays

The article centered around the U.S. state of California, which officially announced its adoption of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha as recognized holidays. California thus becomes the second state after Washington to acknowledge these two Islamic festivals at the state level. This allows schools and colleges to be closed during these holidays, with some exceptions related to social distancing efforts and scheduling of events. This move follows previous efforts by the state of New Mexico to provide protections and exemptions for religious holidays, including Jewish festivals, as part of the broader engagement with the state's religious diversity.
