OpenAI terminates 3 researchers over sensitive data
OpenAI announced that it has terminated the employment of three researchers following an internal investigation that revealed they mishandled sensitive information outside of approved procedures, constituting a breach of its policies and undermining the trust placed in the company. The alleged violations included sharing confidential information with an external entity involved in evaluating AI systems, though the company did not disclose the nature of the information, the identity of the external party, or the names of the employees involved. This comes after the researchers published posts related to safety concerns associated with AI risks, but the company clarified that the decision to dismiss them was not due to those publications, rather due to their violations of policies regarding sensitive information.
