Taiwan receives first two F-16s from U.S.

Taiwan has received its first two F-16V American-made fighter jets as part of an $8 billion deal to purchase 66 aircraft of the same type. This move aims to enhance its defensive capabilities and deter potential Chinese threats. The step comes amid escalating tensions with China, which considers Taiwan part of its territory and has threatened to use force. The new fighters, upgraded from an older version, are equipped with more advanced combat and surveillance capabilities. They represent an important addition to the Taiwanese Air Force, strengthening its air defenses, especially in light of rising military pressure from China.
