Iranian Guards target 7 oil tankers in Strait

Over a period of at least five days, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard's naval forces targeted seven "violating" oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. Two oil tankers experienced explosions on Friday—one at the entrance to the waterway and the other while departing. Reports indicated that Kuwaiti and Emirati oil tankers were struck in the strait over the past four days, despite US assurances that the strait remains open and under control. These attacks come at a time when Iran has been implementing heightened measures in the strait since February, following joint strikes on Iranian territory that blocked safe passage for vessels associated with Israel and the United States.
