Dubai Airlines Filipino Pilot Under Investigation

Sources told CNN that the suspected pilot involved in an attack on a colleague during a Fly Dubai flight heading to Tel Aviv is named Hmam Al-Hammami. He is an Omani citizen of Emirati-Syrian origin who was previously expelled from Oman Air due to his extremist views. It is noted that Al-Hammami worked for seven years at Oman Air before leaving in February 2025, then joined Royal Air Maroc in June 2025, and left that airline in January 2026. His LinkedIn profile did not mention his current employment with Fly Dubai, as it was later removed. Posts on his social media accounts displayed religious fanaticism and hostility toward women, including videos and images related to extremist activities. It was also indicated that he has connections to terrorist ideologies. Investigations suggest that Al-Hammami received training and ideological guidance from extremist groups, raising security concerns about crew screening procedures, especially given his history of working with airlines despite previous security worries. Israeli authorities confirmed that the flight involved in the assault had crew members from Israeli airlines, though it remains unclear how information about the suspect pilot was passed along, given Israel’s lack of cooperation in verifying crew backgrounds. This highlights ongoing security issues related to travel between countries.
