The leader of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council announced the start of military operations to reclaim territories from the Houthis, a move considered a decisive escalation after years of ongoing war since 2014. The announcement comes amid a ramp-up in Houthi attacks using missiles and drones, and Houthi forces’ control over areas in Taiz and other provinces, with broad Saudi and regional support for the mission to restore the state. This step aims to end Houthi presence and establish the authority of the Yemeni government across the entire country, with expectations of extensive military clashes across multiple fronts in the coming phase. It is emphasized that success depends on battlefield progress and the implementation of practical measures on the ground.
