CNN Exclusive: New Charges Anticipated for Maduro and Wife

A report confirms that the U.S. government is preparing to charge former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, with torturing more than twelve American citizens who were held in Venezuela during his rule, amid allegations of mistreatment and torture through harsh methods. The charges are expected to be announced soon, possibly as early as Thursday, after their detention in New York since January. Both deny the accusations against them. The allegations include physical and psychological torture of Americans, with a reminder that some detainees were subjected to severe and notable coercive methods as documented by the UN report, aimed at extracting confessions or intimidating the detainees.
