Britain's FM: Jerusalem consulate stays open

The United Kingdom has confirmed that it will not close its consulate in East Jerusalem, following discussions with the Israeli government. It announced that the building will now be known as "The British Mission in Jerusalem," and it will continue to provide services despite reduced activities and operational restrictions, as many diplomats prepare to conclude their missions. This comes amid escalating diplomatic tensions after Britain, France, and Canada announced sanctions against theillegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank, a move that reflects increasing international isolation of Israel. The British government emphasizes its commitment to a two-state solution and opposes the closure of the consulate, reaffirming its ongoing support for peace and its humanitarian aid to the Palestinians.
