Fajr Al-Yemen Clears Bab al-Mandab

Yemeni forces participating in Operation "Fajr Yemen" achieved a strategic advance on the western coast, successfully clearing the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Meion Island, both of which are vital locations at the entrance of the Red Sea, and securing them completely. Military sources confirmed their control over Al-‘Ardi Camp, the coastal points, the Coast Guard stations, as well as the island and the surrounding mountains of the strait, following special encirclement operations that resulted in the killing of dozens of Houthi militants and the surrender of others. The campaigns also focused on securing the highlands that control the maritime corridor, aiming to protect international navigation, alongside continued clearing of nearby areas, such as the Al-Wazi’iyah district west of Taiz. The forces carried out aerial attacks that wounded 23 Houthi elements and destroyed military vehicles, in an effort to tighten Houthi control over the region. Operations indicated ongoing battles on multiple fronts, with the Houthis resisting to maintain their positions in the countryside. The government forces continued their efforts to achieve full control over strategic areas, executing more than 1,700 targeted operations against Houthi targets at a high daily rate, which resulted in the destruction of weapons and Houthi personnel, all in preparation to expand control and secure vital roads and crossings along the coast.
