UN: Gaza Enters Fourth Winter Without Adequate Shelter
The article describes the humanitarian situation in Gaza as the fourth winter approaches under strict Israeli restrictions, where around 1.8 million residents out of a population of two million face significant risks due to the lack of adequate shelter. The International Organization for Migration notes that more than half of the temporary tents and shelters are in poor condition, with buildings damaged by war and increased risks resulting from the El Niño climatic phenomenon, which may bring heavier rains and flooding. The organization calls for international funding and the rapid provision of shelter materials, as current supplies only meet 17% of the needs. Meanwhile, the sector is facing a health crisis as the rainy season begins, with heightened risks of disease and the spread of mosquitoes. Israel is accused of preventing the entry of relief supplies and faces international criticism over the deteriorating humanitarian conditions.
