Drone attack kills 30 in Sudan

Thirty Sudanese civilians have been killed, and 26 women injured critically, following a drone attack on a displaced persons' shelter in the Abu Shandi area of Wad Madani County in the Blue Nile Region of Sudan. The attack, carried out by the Rapid Support Forces, occurred approximately 50 kilometers east of Damazin. The government condemned the incident, describing it as a blatant assault and a violation of human values and international laws that prohibit targeting civilians during conflicts. Reports indicate that most of the victims are women and children, and the majority of the injured were taken to the hospital for treatment. This attack comes amid ongoing war between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, which since April 2023 has resulted in thousands of deaths, the displacement of millions, widespread destruction of infrastructure, and a deteriorating humanitarian situation in the area.
