Fierce battles are taking place in Yemen's Taiz Governorate, as the Houthi group seeks to encircle the city and cut off supply routes through reinforcements and attacks on key highlands and passageways extending from Khabub and the Lahj areas to those of Al-Abd and Bab al-Mandab and Al-Makha, aiming to control the movement lines between the coast and the interior. Government forces respond by intensifying aerial raids and advancing in some areas, but control over the highlands and vital routes remains contested and subject to hit-and-run tactics. There is also a significant impact due to weakened supplies and human pressures on the civilian population, as the suffering of civilians increases with the continued closure of roads. The battle has thus become a geographical, strategic, and political challenge all at once.
