Live Stream of Nidal Hassan's Execution Draws Criticism

Reports suggest that the administration of President Donald Trump is planning to broadcast live the execution of an American soldier, Nidal Hasan, by firing squad, at Fort Hood in Texas. Hasan carried out a mass shooting that resulted in the deaths of 13 people in 2009. Executions by firing squad are rare in the United States, with the last public execution taking place in 1936, and this could be the first public execution of a soldier since World War II. The execution will be carried out by American soldiers, following the president’s approval. This plan raises concerns about numbing the public's feelings toward death and a violation of human dignity, along with worries about the certainty of the live broadcast. There is ongoing ethical and legal controversy surrounding these actions.
