Hurricane Isaiah Causes 4 Deaths

The storm "Ida" caused the deaths of four people in the southern United States, while more than 600,000 homes and commercial establishments lost power due to strong winds and heavy rainfall, which led to fallen trees and widespread damage. The storm, which initially began as a rainy system and a Category Two hurricane with wind speeds reaching 165 km/h, struck the Gulf Coast of Florida and later weakened to a tropical storm or hurricane after making landfall. The storm also caused significant disruptions in oil and gas production in the Gulf of Mexico, leading to the evacuation of workers and the shutdown of approximately 63% of operations, resulting in a withdrawal of 1.3 million barrels of oil per day from the market. The U.S. Department of Energy announced that it would release 4 million barrels of oil from the strategic reserve to address supply shortages caused by the weather conditions.
