Zamalek lodges complaint over refereeing
Al Ahly's club officially filed a complaint with the Egyptian Football Association against the Main Referees Committee after losing 2-0 to Al Zamalek in the top-tier match of the sixth round of the Premier League. The complaint included the club's objection to the refereeing performance, especially regarding decisions they considered unfair in managing the match, including the failure to award three penalty kicks by three different referees and the lack of review of certain incidents through VAR technology. Zamalek emphasized that these decisions affected the outcome of the game and resulted in the players and coaching staff's efforts being wasted, while maintaining that they do not question the integrity of the entire refereeing system. They called for reviewing the appointment of referees to ensure fairness. The refereeing decisions sparked widespread controversy after the match, with experts differing over their correctness. Meanwhile, Al Ahly temporarily maintained the top spot in the league with 16 points, while Zamalek stood at 13 points in third place.
