Macron Questions Moscow’s Ceasefire Commitment
French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed that over the past 48 hours, he has seen no signs of Russia committing to a ceasefire regarding energy facilities in Ukraine. He clarified that resuming discussions about energy issues is only possible if a genuine ceasefire is achieved and both sides commit to it. Macron pointed out that the Kremlin refuses to confirm an agreement to stop targeting energy facilities and prefers to work towards "permanent peace" with Ukraine rather than a ceasefire. On its part, Ukraine emphasized that its response to Russian escalation will depend on Moscow's stance regarding the “energy truce” announced by Trump, considering that any escalation in targeting energy facilities threatens regional stability and must stop.
