British PM comments on Moscow and Brexit
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak spoke about evidence suggesting that Russia interfered in the 2016 Brexit referendum, in which the British voted to leave the European Union. He confirmed that he inquired about this issue when he took office in July, and received a clear response indicating that Russian interference indeed occurred, despite another parliamentary committee in 2020 being unable to confirm it. Sunak accused Russia of attempting to spread disinformation and influence European politics, emphasizing that Britain should help European nations recognize Russian meddling. Conversely, Nigel Farage, leader of the Reform UK party, denied the validity of these claims, asserting that the Prime Minister lied about Russian interference in the 2016 referendum, noting that the official answer had been a denial.
