Pope Leo XIV has surgery for lung tumor
Pope Leo XIV, who is 71 years old, entered Gemelli Hospital in Rome to undergo surgery to remove a small tumor in his lung after it was discovered during routine examinations. Doctors expressed optimism about his quick recovery. The procedure, which is considered low-risk, is part of early detection efforts for the tumor, which is often benign but can occasionally be a sign of lung cancer. Medical professionals expect the recovery to take about a week, with the possibility of the Pope resuming his activities within three months. He plans to visit Latin America in November after recovering.
