Riyadh and Houthis: Clash and Consequences

The confrontation between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia is escalating due to security attacks and military measures. Analyses indicate that Iran has used the Houthis as pawns to divert attention, with the interception of an Iranian plane in Yemen last July serving as a catalyst for escalation. These operations are part of an expanded Iranian strategy to control the Red Sea straits, especially the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, and to enhance the Houthis' capabilities to threaten Saudi Arabia's interior and vital facilities. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia is attempting to regain control of the situation and prevent it from spiraling into a broader conflict that could hinder the possibility of reaching a political settlement in Yemen.
