Netanyahu: Preparing for possible PA weapons shift

Statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reveal his government's readiness to face a scenario where the Palestinian Authority directs its weapons against Israel in the West Bank. Netanyahu stated that the Israeli army is the only force that will continue to control the camps in northern the West Bank, warning of a strong Israeli response if PA forces attack. He also clarified that Israel will not allow the residents of Tulkarm Camp to return, describing the camp as a "terrorism stronghold," and criticized the "Iron Wall" operation which led to the displacement of thousands. Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz affirmed the army’s preparedness for escalation scenarios, stating that if the PA directs its weapons against Israeli forces, Israel will declare a full-scale war, including ground and air forces, and will destroy infrastructure, targeting senior officials. This continues previous threats of declaring war against the Palestinian Authority amidst increasing Israeli assaults on Palestinians and their property in the West Bank following the escalation of aggression in Gaza.
