Atlético Madrid wounds Manchester United with two goals
Atlético Madrid defeated Manchester United 2-0 in the Champions League, putting the English team under great pressure and boosting the Spanish team's chances in the competition. Pablo Barrios scored the fastest goal of the match after 47 seconds, the second-fastest in Atlético's history in the Champions League, while another goal he scored was disallowed for offside. The English team was also reduced to ten men after Liny Yero’s red card in the second half, which contributed to Atlético extending their lead with a second goal by Ademola Lookman at a very critical moment, especially as United faced a tough task after going a man down. This was Atlético's first victory over an English team in the group stage of the Champions League, marking their first win in this phase after previously earning 4 draws and suffering 7 defeats.
