South American nation opens embassy in Jerusalem
Colombia has opened its embassy in Jerusalem, reflecting a diplomatic development as it becomes the tenth embassy established in the city, despite the international community not recognizing its status as the capital of Israel. This move comes as part of efforts to strengthen relations between the two countries, with Israel announcing the resumption of its free trade agreement with Colombia after it was downgraded during the previous President Gustavo Petro's tenure. These understandings were finalized in Washington in July. This step is seen as an indicator of improving economic and political relations between Colombia and Israel.
