Aoun Affirms Lebanon Supports UNIFIL in South

The Lebanese Presidency reaffirmed Lebanon's firm stance on the continued presence of UNIFIL forces in the south, due to the vital role they have played since the start of their mission, especially in light of the Israeli attacks and occupation of southern villages and regions. President Joseph Aoun clarified that the presence of international forces is essential for maintaining security and stability, and to prevent an security vacuum that could lead to escalating tensions. Additionally, he emphasized the social and humanitarian support provided by the forces and the satisfaction of the southern citizens with their presence. He anticipated that the Security Council would respond positively to Lebanon's request to maintain the mission, particularly if Israel succeeds in withdrawing from border areas and the Lebanese Army deploys, benefiting from the services provided by UNIFIL.
