YouTube plans to launch audiobooks

YouTube, owned by Alphabet, plans to enter the audiobook market to enhance its digital subscription platform, making it a competitor to services like Spotify and Audible. The site is currently in discussions with publishers to develop a dedicated audiobook feature expected to launch next year, which may be part of a YouTube Premium subscription or require an additional fee. The company aims to leverage its vast user base, which exceeds billions, to benefit from the rapid growth of this sector, whose revenues surpassed two billion dollars in 2025. This move aligns with the trend of companies offering audio content within a single subscription to boost loyalty and increase revenues.
