Shia Real Estate Purchase Moves to Court

Media outlets reported that a Shia individual named Rida Jafal purchased dozens of properties in the Metn area of Mount Lebanon between 2008 and 2014, using funds from his own source. He expressed his willingness to provide documents proving the legitimacy of his purchase transactions and confirming that they are not connected to any political or partisan entity. In response, Deputy Razi Hajj filed a report with the Lebanese judiciary, requesting an investigation into the source of the funds used to buy more than 83 properties in predominantly Christian areas, to ensure their compliance with legal sources. He emphasized that the investigation aims to enforce the law and promote transparency, while respecting property rights and the presumption of innocence.
