Dementia Risks Increase Globally

The global study indicates that the number of new dementia cases could increase from the current 11.4 million annually to 24.7 million by 2050. The rates of infection are also rising among women, reaching 10.6 cases per 1,000 women compared to 8.6 per 1,000 men. The study also shows disparities between countries, with rates of 13.6 cases in low- and middle-income countries compared to 8.3 in wealthy nations. The expected increase is attributed to aging populations, highlighting the importance of early diagnosis, prevention, and reducing the disease's impact on healthcare systems.
